Alistair Griffiths, Director of Science and Collections, Royal Horticultural Society Alistair is responsible for managing the RHS’s team of scientists and sits on the RHS Executive Board. He has a PhD from the University of Reading and is a Visiting Professor of Royal Holloway University of London. Alistair is a UK representative on the council of the International Society for Horticultural Science, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Horticulture and of the Royal Society of Biology. He sits on the Industry/Government’s Ornamental Horticulture Roundtable and chairs the UK’s Horticultural Scientific Research and Development and UK’s Health and Horticulture Forum Group. The RHS five-year science strategy 2014–19 (download) focuses on ensuring that the UK’s 27 million gardeners have the tools they need to address the horticultural and societal challenges they face now and in the future. The four key aims are:

  2. Plant health in gardens
  3. Gardening in a changing world
  4. Plant science for all; people, plants and planets
