Back to presentations: Urban Public Gardens: challenges and opportunities

Leigh Hunt, Royal Horticultural Society

Leigh is the Principal Horticultural Advisor at the Royal Horticultural Society. As well as being part of the team that answers nearly 80 000 gardening question a year, he leads the RHS Urban Greening project. This science-based initiative began by examining the evidence for why gardens are good for our towns and cities, which resulted in four key aspects being considered in the publication Gardening Matters: urban gardens (2011). Leigh has worked at the RHS for 8 years; prior to this, he provided technical support on BBC Gardeners’ World Magazine and trained at the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew. He regularly writes for publications and journals, including The Plantsman and National Trust Magazine.
