Dr Thomas Ings is an ecologist with a special interest in pollinator behaviour and community ecology. He is currently a Senior Lecturer in Zoology at Anglia Ruskin University, where he continues his work on winter-active bumblebees as well as developing an individual trait-based approach to studying plant–pollinator networks. Previously, he was a Research Fellow at Queen Mary, University of London, where he also completed his PhD assessing the risks posed by the introduction of non-native subspecies of the bumblebee Bombus terrestris into the UK for crop pollination. Tom recently collaborated with the Bees, Wasps and Ants Recording Society to engage members of the public in a national survey of winter-active bumblebees, which will hopefully continue in future winters.
