Back to presentations: Volunteers in Gardens and Arboreta
Cheryl Pearson is the Volunteer Manager at Westonbirt – The National Arboretum, and is responsible for managing 240 volunteers involved in supporting all areas of the Arboretum. Activities include, learning and family activities, leading guided walks, visitor engagement and information, propagation and practical working parties. Initially she worked for the Friends of Westonbirt Arboretum, until, in January 2011, management of volunteers was moved to the Forestry Commission to provide a more centralised and integrated approach. Cheryl has recently introduced a restructured recruitment and training programme and is currently working on broadening access to volunteering at Westonbirt to enable the wider community to become involved.
