The role of BGCI’s databases

Suzanne Sharrock, Director of Global Programmes at BGCI (Botanic Gardens Conservation International), provided an overview of BGCI databases and how those with a plant collection can utilise data to post information about their collections and to find out about similar collections around the world. Suzanne focused on GardenSearch – a database that any public garden or documented plant collection can join to raise awareness of the work you do/your garden – and PlantSearch – a database that allows you to list the plants you hold in your collection and identify others around the world who might also grow similar specimens. Other databases were also highlighted.
