An Introduction to Permaculture & Forest Gardening

PlantNetwork was joined on 14th October by Graham Bell and Dr Anne Stobart to discuss permaculture and forest gardening. Both Graham and Anne are experts in their fields and it was a pleasure to hear from them both about a subject on which they are passionate.

Graham has one of the longest established forest gardens in the UK and uses it to train and enthuse others in the many benefits of forest gardening – from the high yields that can be achieved from relatively small areas to the many benefits for wildlife as well as human health and wellbeing. You can find out more about Graham and Garden Cottage at his website: https://grahambell.org/ as well as his videos available on YouTube.

Dr Anne Stobart established a medicinal forest garden at Holt Wood in Devon having struggled to find a source of fresh material for her role as a clinical herbalist. Planting a mix of native and non-native trees created not only a productive site but also a site for teaching and learning about medicinal plants, forest gradens and many other concepts. This has led to Anne publishing a book called the Medicinal Forest Garden Handbook in 2020.
