An information and training day introducing garden masterplanning to horticulturists with limited or no experience of garden masterplans or those wishing to refresh in a practical workshop environment. The event took place at Trewithen Gardens on 12th September 2019.
Starting with an introduction to the masterplanning process in general, provided by landscape architect and Project Curator at NT Hidcote Judith Teasdale, the day then focused on the Trewithen masterplan as a case study. Trewithen Head of Gardens & Parks, Gary Long, and landscape architect, Matthew Tickner, described how the Trewithen masterplan was developed and the key steps to implementation. Participants toured the garden and had the opportunity to discuss with the authors of the masterplan the practical implications of implementation including impacts on garden management.
