St Andrews Botanic Garden under threat

Fife Council leases the site from the University of St Andrews and provides all the funding to run the Garden, but new arrangements will be needed for the future as there will be significantly reduced funding from the Council as a result of a proposed 50% cut.

The University has expressed willingness for the Garden to continue on its existing site, but has stated that a financially sound business plan must be approved before the lease will be renewed. To this end, the Fife Council, the University and the Friends jointly commissioned a study by consultants Morrison Fairlie. The report can be seen here.
