Tree Forum

PlantNetwork tree Forum discusses arboriculture, arboreta and all matters sylvicultural. Practical workshops are arranged to allow members to meet, compare notes and discuss problems. It was formed in 1998 under the leadership of Mark Flanagan and Tony Kirkham.

Workshops of the PlantNetwork tree Forum, as with the other Forum groups, are only open to members of PlantNetwork – all members of PlantNetwork are welcome to attend.


Betula identification and cultivation

Held at Ness Botanic Gardens in September 2018, this Tree Forum Day was led by Ness Botanic Gardens staff and focused primarily on the identification of birches and their allies, with discussion of propagation, cultivation and Betula conservation.


Tree establishment training day

4 October 2017, Westonbirt Arboretum. The fully booked Tree Forum ‘tree establishment’ event at Westonbirt was a great success with many positive reviews. The 24 attendees heard how the Forestry Commission staff explained how they plan, manage and record the process of establishment
