Back to presentations: Pests and diseases on trees and shrubsChris Malumphy, an entomologist in Fera’s Pest and Disease Identification Programme described a range of recent Hemipteran (Bugs and Scale insects) pests – these represent almost half the newly arriving invertebrate pests in the UK. The following species were discussed:
- Western conifer seed bug (Leptoglossus occidentalis)
- oak lace bug (Corythucha arcuata)
- white peach scale (Pseudaulacaspis pentagona)
- San Jose scale (Diaspidiotus perniciosus)
- wisteria scale (Eulecanium excrescens)
- Oak leaf phylloxera (Phylloxera quercus)
- Elaeagnus sucker, Pieris lacebug, Cottony camellia scale
