Helen Hoyle is a PhD researcher working with James Hitchmough and Anna Jorgensen in the Landscape Department at the University of Sheffield. She spent 20 years teaching Geography before undertaking an MA in Landscape. Fascinated by ecological planting design, she also worked with James on the perennial meadow trials leading up to the London Olympics, and is currently working on the urban BESS project in Bedford and Luton. Helen will be discussing her own PhD research – public perception of designed urban planting in the context of a warming climate, and the potential tensions between human preference and invertebrate benefit.
